Ninebanks - 'Hello Sunshine'

Single Review by Erin Winter

Ninebanks are a Pop-Punk band from Sunderland starting out in 2021. The band over the years have striven to achieve a 2000s Pop-Punk era sound of the music they all grew up listening too but with their own added touches have achieved their own energetic style.

Hello Sunshine

The brand new track from the local lads brings back the sheer passion and raw energy of Pop-Punk music. Starting dynamically low with intensifying drums and the title being sang, followed by an explosive guitar riff, giving the song such a strong start making way for the high degree of music to come. The angsty vocal melody is followed with a punchy bassline exemplifying their influences which the band have named as: All Time low, Fall out Boy, Blink 182, Hawthorne Heights and Good Charlotte.

The chorus is abrupt and hard-edged after being foreshadowed by a suspensful pre-chorus break. It really helps create that feel-good summer premonition; the kind of tune you'd listen to while sipping a few beers with your mates on a sunny day.

The bridge of the song is my perosnal favourite part. Its short but sweet and I feel this is a great attribute to the song. This section in particular pays great homage to the 'old skool' vibes the band give off within their music. It fits well with the rest of the song and further shows the range of techniques they have used to achieve the perfect structure (the tempo changes, stabs and set of dynamics are impeccable in my opinion).

The Sunderland Pop-Punk pioneers will be releasing the track across all of their streaming services on Friday 9th September and even have a pre save link, https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/ninebanks/hello-sunshine make sure to get saving!

That's not all they've got in store for us as the band are playing a headline gig at 'Independent' Sunderland on Saturday 1st October and I'm sure it'll be a night full of Pop-Punk bangers for you to dance along to.
